September 2026 course dates

OBSC is hosting referee courses on two Sundays in September. Certification comes from Florida Soccer Referees and US Soccer. You register and pay on their system, then attend the in-person session here at the Sports Complex. Referees aged 14 to 17 register through their own listing at a lower fee, so check the age column before you sign up. Seats are limited and registration closes once a session fills.

Games do not happen without officials. For a teenager who already spends weekends at the complex, refereeing is paid work close to home, and the Futures course gives 11 to 13 year olds a first step before they are old enough to be badged.

Two sessions this day. The entry course runs 12:00 to 3:00 and recertification runs 3:30 to 5:30. Each one has a separate registration listing for ages 14 to 17 at a lower fee, so use the sign-up link on the row that matches your age. Entry is for anyone who has never been a US Soccer referee. Recertification is for referees who are already badged and are renewing. Register by Saturday, September 19, and finish your online modules before you attend.

Register by Saturday, September 26. Futures referees officiate recreational games at their own club, and they can only take the field clinic at the club where they will work. OBSC is an approved Futures Referee Program Club, so a Futures referee certified here can officiate OBSC recreational games. At 14 they can upgrade to a full US Soccer badge.

How to sign up

1. Pick your course above and click Register. That link opens the exact clinic in the Florida Soccer Referees registration system, so you cannot land in the wrong one.
2. Create an account or sign in, then pay.
3. Finish the online modules and pass the Laws of the Game exam. These must be complete before the course date, not on the day.
4. Attend the session at the Sports Complex to finish your certification.

What to bring

• Comfortable shoes and shorts with pockets. Part of the session is on the field.
• Water and a snack.

Florida Soccer Referees provides everything else.

After you certify

• Getting your first game. Florida Soccer Referees keeps a Find a Game list of assignors by area. Ormond Beach Soccer Club is named on it under Area B, so a newly badged referee can contact the assignor who covers OBSC directly.
• Getting paid. Badged referees are paid per match. OBSC does not set those rates, so ask the assignor what the going rate is for the age groups you would work. Futures referees, ages 11 to 13, officiate in-house recreational games as a first step rather than for pay.
